Hi! My name is Ross Urbina, and I am the CEO & Founder of Seek.
When I came into college, I had no idea what I wanted to do for a career. I tried to research various careers and learn about them, but I found this process to be very difficult because the information was scattered in many different sites.
I eventually found a career interest in consulting when I joined a consulting club at my university. But even with that interest, it took me months to learn all the intricacies of the field. I spent countless hours researching the career and talking with people in consulting, but I still missed out on important information such as recruiting timelines or which firms are out there. I also spent so much of my time researching consulting that I didn’t have much time to explore other great careers.
After talking with many peers, I realized I wasn’t alone; many students struggle to know which options are out there and where to go for the information. In fact, 77% of the 90 students we interviewed have felt stressed or overwhelmed with the career exploration process.
That’s why I decided to create Seek: to help students discover their career interests and equip them with the necessary information to be successful in that field. Many people fall into careers they dislike simply because they never discovered what interests them or have the necessary information to enter certain careers. Seek puts all the information into one central place, giving students the information they need while saving them time.
I wanted to create a platform I wish I had.
